NAIM® XS Series 2 Channel Integrated Amplifier

The NAIT XS 3 has received significant performance upgrades, including a built-in phono stage, making it a perfect partner for turntables, as well as for streamers, CD players, or any other music source people want to enjoy with the signature Naim sound.

The NAIT XS 3 offers much of the performance of our reference quality SUPERNAIT 3 in a simpler, slimmer package combining a 70W power amplifier with five analogue inputs plus a phono stage. Its high-performance preamplifier stage is as transparent as you would expect from a Naim Audio amplifier, and it also shares the single-ended class-A headphone output of its larger sibling.

The NAIT XS 3 can be upgraded with our external power supplies, power amplifiers and even cabling upgrades to get the best from all sources.

Our R&D team has found a way to more than double the speed of the voltage gain stage, which in turn doubles the rate at which the speaker output stage can react.

The second gain stage transistors have been optimized, so they no longer need to be shielded by a cascode stage transistor. Removing the cascode means less amplifier stabilization is required: that doubles the slew rate and delivers an uplift in sound quality.

The phono circuit topology comprises 3 stages: the gain stage, passive equalization and final gain and active equalization. This enables excellent noise performance, extended RIAA equalization beyond the audio band and great overload headroom.

All RIAA equalization capacitors and the RIAA resistors are ‘through-hole’ mounted film designs, with low microphonic pickup and excellent transient performance. As phono stages are 1000x more sensitive than other inputs, this greatly benefits the sound quality.

Input impedance is 47kΩ in parallel with 470pF capacitive loading; the gain is perfect for 5mV moving magnet cartridges.

Decades have passed, but the role of the NAIT 5si is fundamentally the same as its original forebear. So the engineering challenge - to maximise performance whilst maintaining engineering efficiency, quality and reliability - hasn't changed. Amplifier technology has moved on considerably however, and while the NAIT 5si occupies the same position in the Naim Audio range as the original NAIT, its performance might be from a different world.

The NAIT 5si provides four analogue inputs and a 60 Watt per channel power amplifier. Like every component in our flagship 500 Series range, the NAC 552 has been developed without compromise or constraint. Its two-box design, which houses the power supply components in a separate enclosure to better control electromagnetic interference, is classically Naim Audio. By contrast, the 552 PS DR power supply itself employs radically new thinking, including a new split-rail configuration that virtually eliminates power supply noise in the signal earth.   The sound-critical electronics of the NAC 552 are mounted on a brass sub-chassis, which is fully suspended on coil springs at a frequency below the threshold of human hearing. This method of suspension maximizes isolation, hence minimizing the effect of vibration on the highly sensitive electronic components. Carefully selected precision rotary potentiometers with precious metal wipers are used to preserve music integrity and ensure long-term stability.   The NAC 552’s six inputs can be selected directly from either the front panel or the remote control. In addition to the usual DIN inputs, preferred for their superior earthing and impedance matching, the NAC 552 owner can configure two of the inputs for use with the more common RCA phono type connectors, enabling the use of alternative components with pre-owned interconnects.

As the debut product in our reference 500 Series range, the NAP 500 is a monumental expression of Naim Audio amplifier technology.

NAIM® 500 Series 2 Channel Power Amplifier

Its design was honed over six years of collaborative work with suppliers of specialist parts and each product takes days of dedicated assembly by our most skilled technicians in Salisbury. It’s this eye for detail, alongside its remarkable power, that allows the NAP 500 to bring your music into breath-taking focus.

Our flagship Statement amplification system was ten years in the making. The research and development project drew on all of our knowledge and expertise, yielding several breakthroughs in technology. We’ve recently introduced two new technologies from the Statement project to our core range of power amplifiers.   The NAP 500 now features the new NA009 transistors first introduced in Statement. In development for over a year, this key component was created in partnership with a specialist semi-conductor manufacturer to achieve the best possible sound quality. The 500 also includes the high power Naim Audio DR (Discrete Regulator) technology used in Statement to provide the smooth, stable power supply we know is critical for the audio electronics to make music come to life.   These two new technologies, combined with other small improvements to layout and componentry, mean the NAP 500 DR can produce even more of the fundamental musical pace, rhythm and timing that made the originals so popular with music lovers.

The NAP 500 delivers 140W per channel into 8 ohms and is capable of prolonged output into 2 ohms with no discernible impact to performance. Its two box configuration is classic Naim Audio, with the power supply completely removed to the separate 500 PS power supply for ultimate performance. Each channel of the NAP 500 includes ten stages of local regulation. To reduce interference from the mains supply further, the transformer and first stages of the power supply are in a separate enclosure, the 500 PS, which provides twelve raw D.C. supplies for the power amplifier.  A bridged configuration allow for maximized open and closed loop speed, less intrusive protection circuitry and reduced interaction between input and output signals as the very high drive currents to the loudspeaker do not flow through the system earth. The NAP 500 also features the new output transistor, the NA009, specifically designed for the purpose through months of collaborative work with a specialist supplier. The circuit topology has been developed to maximize bandwidth and reduce distortion and power supply dependency. Also, special attention has been paid to reducing thermally-induced noise, an especially important consideration in power amplifiers.

The NAC 332 preamplifier is the digitally controlled, pure analogue center of your system. Each and every audio stage is meticulously designed using discrete transistors, building on 50 years of experience in manufacturing high-performance audio systems. 

NAIM® 300 Series Black Pre Amplifier

Combining performance and versatility, the NAC 332 can be easily configured to suit your audio world. Map any input button to any of the 8 input sockets, such as balanced XLR, DIN and RCA, allowing simple connection to any audio source. The NAC 332 has a powered DIN socket for connection with the NVC TT phono stage. The front panel has a ¼ inch headphone socket. Behind the socket is a state-of-the-art headphone amplifier. On the rear panel, twin outputs of XLR and RCA allow connection to a variety of power amplifiers, or the ability to bi-amp.

Under the leadership of our Technical Director, our engineers have developed innovative electronic circuits to give the New Classic products excellent audio performance. The best components have been auditioned for their audio performance, such as through-hole resistors used in the volume control. The architecture of the Statement volume control is carried over to the NAC 332, using reed relays to switch between the volume resistors. This ensures premium sound quality, the ability to have adjustable input sensitivity and the capability to set a maximum volume level.

Bi-directional wireless inter-product communication is used to connect the NAC 332 to the NSS 333 streamer, making them as easy to use as a single-box system. Optical control synchronizes seamlessly with New Classic power amplifiers, such as the NAP 350.

Simplicity is the key. Buttons on the front panel allow quick access to inputs, volume, standby mode and mute. The bi-directional ZigBee remote allows complete control even without direct visibility of the product. The NAC 332 automatically detects no music and after 20 minutes will put the system into stand-by mode.

NAIM® 300 Series Black Power Amplifier

The NAP 350 is a pure class-AB linear amplifier, running from fully regulated DR power supplies; producing 175W into 8 ohms and 345W into 4 ohms. It can deliver peak power of up to 1.7kW to drive impedance dips of complex speaker crossover networks. The input is via a balanced XLR socket, facilitating industry-wide compatibility.

Under the guidance of our Technical Director, our engineers have developed innovative electronic circuits to give the New Classic products excellent audio performance. The NAP 350 has a new high-current output stage that uses matched pairs of Statement NA009 custom power transistors. Combined with our acclaimed DR technology, which guarantees a stable and low-noise power supply, the NAP 350 delivers high power with precision and speed.

NAP 350 combines perfectly with the NSS 333 streamer and the NAC 332 preamplifier.
