In fact, the dynamic behaviour approaches the ideal, in that the transient power nearly doubles into 4 Ohms and nearly quadruples into 2 Ohms. That means the HK870 gives you louder, clearer, cleaner sound than any other 100 watt power amplifier.  The HK870 maintains a negative feedback level of 18dB, far below that of most power amplifiers. But there's much more to the HK870. We use a massive toroidal power transformer to eliminate the stray magnetic fields that cause hum.  And our 4 dual polarity power supplies eliminate channel to channel interference, while assuring that the high level stages won't drain current at the expense of the low level stages.
