Tributaries® Series 8 MKII 7M Mono Subwoofer Cable

All Series 8 audio cables are meticulously assembled by hand in Orlando, Florida. Series 8 Mark II subwoofer mono cables are optimally designed to work in Low Frequency Effects (LFE) Subwoofer outputs of a pre-amp or receiver. The Series 8 design starts with extremely high grade linear crystal copper (LC-OFC) developed specifically for audio applications.  Tributaries LC-OFC is carefully drawn to produce a low crystal volume per foot resulting in less signal loss and distortion. Conductors consist of multiple solid gauges that are mathematically and tonally chosen to support lower, upper and mid-bass frequency ranges for a dynamic bass sound. Individually insulating each conductor yields zero strand interaction and better sound quality. The precision-twisted Twin-Axial design has dedicated conductors for the positive signal and negative return signal plus a heavy shield that is connected to the source end only. In this design the shield will capture any induced interference sending it to ground at the source end thereby isolating noise away from the input stage of the load. This configuration ensures a clear signal transfer with overall noise rejection. The Mark II cables are silver soldered onto proprietary RCA connectors made with Tellurium (TE) copper contacts increasing conductivity and strength. The end result is a dead-quiet cable that accurately produces a dynamic bass sound.

Solid 5% Silver-Plated Copper Conductors: A superbly cost-effective way to maximize a video or digital cable, harsh and horrible for full-range audio, but like turning up the “sharpness” for a subwoofer, enhancing articulation and intelligibility.

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. AudioQuest, however, uses Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation on both conductors, for increased geometry stabilization and improved clarity. Because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile, Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation, with its high air content, causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.

Our Triple-Balanced Geometry uses a separate ground-reference conductor, so the cable's shield is never used as an inferior conductor. Whether prepared with RCA or XLR plugs, the cable's three conductors ensure that the positive and negative signals have equally superior, low-distortion conducting paths.

Dielectric-Bias System With Radio Frequency Trap

All insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties will affect the integrity of the signal. When the dielectric is unbiased, dielectric-involvement (absorption and non-linear release of energy) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a real problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. The inclusion of an RF Trap (developed for AudioQuest’s Niagara Series of power products), ensures that radio frequency noise will not be induced into the signal conductors from the DBS field elements. (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1)

This plug design allows for a connection devoid of solder, which is a common source of distortion. Instead of solder, the process employs a high-pressure technique. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal used can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability.

The net sonic result is lower distortion, improved resolution, and greatly reduced harshness and confusion.

Solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC)/Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors

This cable uses a carefully finessed combination of Long-Grain Copper (LGC) and extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC). LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries and definitively better performance. The astonishingly smooth and pure PSC further eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity.
