The HK870, with its high instantaneous current capability of 60 amps, will develop far more power under peak loads than its rated 100 watts per channel. In fact, the dynamic behaviour approaches the ideal, in that the transient power nearly doubles into 4 Ohms and nearly quadruples into 2 Ohms. That means the HK870 gives you louder, clearer, cleaner sound than any other 100 watt power amplifier. The HK870 maintains a negative feedback level of 18dB, far below that of most power amplifiers. But there's much more to the HK870. We use a massive toroidal power transformer to eliminate the stray magnetic fields that cause hum. And our 4 dual polarity power supplies eliminate channel to channel interference, while assuring that the high level stages won't drain current at the expense of the low level stages. By the way, since our equipment has always been designed to play original master tapes, we've been ready for digital audio and coming software advances, long before they've been ready for us.
